"PROPHET LUT AND POMPEII" By Remsha Jhutt

Long before, in late 70 AD, Pompeii was a famous city known for sex, pornography and prostitution. Ancient pornography was figured everywhere on the walls. Even the male prostitutes were available for the entertainment of this sin dipped city.  These people were involved in homosexuality. Allah send his Prophet Lut for their righteousness.

Allah says: “And remember Lut, when he said to his people that do you commit the worst sin such as none preceding you has committed in the ‘Âlamîn (mankind and jinn? (Sûrat Al-A‘râf-verse 80).

Prophet Lut did his best to drag his people on the right path. But he was clearly disappointed by them. Even his own wife was involved in adultery with the people of Pompeii. One day some people came to Prophet Lut as guests. They were actually angels send by Allah. When the villagers came to know about the guests. They decided to practice adultery with them. After knowing about villagers intensions, Angels said to Prophet Lut that:

They messengers said: "O Lut! Verily, we are the messengers from your Lord! They shall not reach you! So travel with your family in a part of the night, and let not any of you look back; but your wife (will remain behind), verily, the punishment which will afflict them, will afflict her. Indeed, morning is their appointed time. Is not the morning near?" (Sûrat Hûd-verse81)

According to the divine instructions Prophet Lut did so. He left the city with all of his family accept his wife. Soon after his departure from the city. Allah started sending his torment towards all sinners. The volcanic mountain of Vesuvius busted and wrapped the whole city just in a moment. Not a single person could able to escape from this. They were all ossified. Many couples were found during homosexuality intercourse. Even the young ones were involved in adultery. Quran says about them:

"It was no more than a single mighty blast, and behold! They were (like ashes) quenched and silent." (Surat Yasin-Verse 29)
