BLASPHEMY AND THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH --- By Remsha Jhutt

Freedom of Speech is the right of every person but it doesn't mean to disrespect others. If the things remain in their limits they’ll be surely acceptable by all. As we know that BALANCE IS THE KEY TO LIFE. You can’t live your whole life by sitting idle or either you can’t live just doing nonstop work. Similarly, freedom of speech doesn’t mean to stand all world in a row and shoot them all with the offensive words. Freedom of speech is the right to speak against the injustice, brutality and inhumanity. Let’s come to the point some people calling blasphemy the freedom of speech. I’m not going to quarrel with them. I’ll just try to clear their thoughts with some very simple logic. I’m a Muhammadan(Muslim). It means I’m a peace lover. So can’t quarrel with anyone.

So, let’s take an example of a discourteous and disrespectful child, enjoys every luxury from his parents in his whole life. Parents give him everything of what he demand for. They also spent a lot of money on his education. But what happened when he grows? __ the child thinks that he is a high educated person and his parents can’t think like a way he thinks. He can live with the world but not ready to live with his parents. He is famous in his profession, people praises him but the prayers of his parents are not worth enough for him. Now the day comes when the child throw his parents out of his home with the words that "YOU DID NOTHING FOR ME. LET ME MAKE MY LIFE AND DO NOT INTERFERE. I"M MATURE ENOUGH AND CAN LIVE ALONE."  But parents still murmuring that “IT’s HARD FOR US TO LIVE WITHOUT YOU MY CHILD. BUT IF IT”S YOUR WISH THEN STAY HAPPY.”

Our Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is a mercy for all worlds including everything. He bring justice into the world. When the women was being buried alive, he came like a blessing and gave them the rights equal to men. Some people asked the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) to curse the unbelievers. He replied, “I WAS MOT SENT ON EARTH TO CURSE; I WAS SENT ONLY AS A MERCY.” He forgave all his enemies including Ikrama son of Abu Jehal the leader of opponents, Hinda who tore the chest of the Holy Prophet’s (P.B.U.H) uncle Hamzah (R.A) and ate his liver out of spite in the battle of Uhad. He also forgave Habbar who had murdered several Muslims including the murder of the Holy Prophet’s (P.B.U.H) daughter Zainab (R.A). He also forgave Abu Sufyan, one of his greatest enemies who also led many wars against him.

People who reads our Holy Book and claims that the Prophet (P.B.U.H) is the greatest law giver of the world. Then how can they raise finger on our Prophet’s teachings? How can they do blasphemy? Our HOLY BOOK said, “And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge.”  So, Justice demand that if we are giving respect to your Gods, Prophets and religions then you should also refrain from to do blasphemy. Those who promote peace, who support humanity and justice can never speak against our Prophet (P.B.U.H). They can only LOVE Him. And those who speak against him are living in the paradise of fools.
