Have you ever seen angels on this Earth? Have you ever
talked to them? Well I have seen them.
They are the Founder and all the people
working day and night for the success of Faisalabad institute of Research
science and technology (FIRST). They are the people who are representing a very
good image of Pakistan. This university is situated at about 30 mins journey
from centre of Faisalabad in a village. It is offering undergraduate programs
e.g Bs (hons) in Biotechnology to students on scholarships. The ideology behind
this university is to offer free education to the people all over the Pakistan
who are passionate about getting education but can’t afford it but Akhuwat
University is a very good platform for them to achieve their goals. Why Akhuwat
is offering Bs (hons) in Biotechnology? As we know biotechnology has a very
vast scope in present era. It includes techniques related to life. e.g
production of insulin through bacteria and fermentation techniques are all
included in this branch. The university is going to offer a new program which
is BBA biotechnology where students will not only be able to learn about
biotechnology but also they will be able to learn the ideas to start a
successful business. The mission of this university is to bring the attention
of students towards research activities.
Students are provided with good research labs and the best thing is that students of first year are appreciated to do research. This can bring a big change as if students are encouraged to do research in this age then they can make big inventions and discoveries in the future. There is a PCR machine to make multiple copies of a DNA and Electrophoresis machine to visualize the complete set of DNA in an individual and a machine to separate different types of bacteria and viruses by staining. There is also a separate room for tissue culture technique where Plants are grown without soil by providing them with essential nutrients and artificial sunlight. There is a library for the students. Students are provided with hostel facility as students come over here from all provinces of Pakistan. Students of this university speak nine languages. There are green houses where students can do plantation in any season for research purposes. The best thing in the university which impressed me a lot is the computer lab where not only the university students but also the children from nearby areas are encouraged to go there and get basic knowledge about computer technology. The knowledge of computer has become essential in the modern era so it’s a very good step to teach the children in the villages how to operate computer. Another best thing about Akhuwat University is that the students not only seek knowledge from here but they also get the opportunity to share their knowledge. Students are provided with the opportunity to teach the poor children of nearby villages till matriculation level. This is very beneficial for the students because by such activities students not only get confidence in themselves but also learn to share their knowledge with others as it is said “Sharing is Caring”. Akhuwat wall is under construction in Akhuwat University. This wall is made to collect clothes for the children who come here to get knowledge but they can’t afford clothes and shoes.

This is the beauty of our country where people don’t have
clothes to cover their bodies, don’t have shoes to cover their feet but they
have spirit and passion to seek knowledge and one can see such beautiful people
only in Pakistan. A plant has been installed in the university to provide the students
with clean water. The people living in the nearby village are also provided
with this water. There is a vast fertile land around the university and
students are appreciated to do plantation by the use of organic fertilizers.
What I got from this visit is the spirit to spend life for
others because most of the people spend their life for themselves but only few
live for others and these few are the people who get a peaceful sleep at night.
If someone asks them have they done anything to add a meaning in their life?
They can easily answer YES we have spent our whole life for the creature of
Allah.
